First check on a used excavator: the undercarriage
Questions to ask the seller and what to prepare before an inspection.
When evaluating a used machine, ask for service records and usage history alongside the model year and hour meter. Check that the records match the machine's serial number.
Tracks and rollers
Put wear on the undercarriage, tracks, rollers and pivot points on your inspection list. Complete the visual check with measurements and an operating test by a qualified inspector.
The hydraulic system, boom joints and leak traces should be examined separately. Ask the seller for a cold start, a function test and maintenance documents.
Listing details are for an initial comparison. A purchase decision should be backed by an on-site inspection and a proper inspection report.
